Safety Element Summary of Amendments

The City of Los Angeles is undertaking a comprehensive update to the Housing Element of the General Plan. State legislation requires the City to undertake a parallel review of the Safety Element to ensure compliance with all recent state requirements. This process began earlier this year with a series of scoping meetings to discuss environmental review of both projects.

City staff have completed an audit of the Safety Element and identified sections that will need to be amended. Interested parties can now access a summary of these targeted amendments and responses to frequently asked questions.

A series of workshops on the draft Housing and Safety Elements is planned for early summer 2021. The Safety Element is proposed to be adopted alongside the Housing Element in the Fall of 2021.
