Joe Gatlin

Commissioner Gatlin is a proud San Pedro resident and California native who has been a community leader, advocate, activist, and humanitarian for over sixty years. He is the founder, and current vice-president of the NAACP Branch #1069 and founded the Juneteenth 400 non-profit which has been hosting a Juneteenth celebration for over thirty years.

Commissioner Gatlin serves on the following boards:  Behavioral Health Services, LA Harbor Community College, YWCA Harbor Area, Los Angeles Maritime Institute, Champion and Service, and LAPD Advisory Board Harbor Division. He has three loving daughters and eight grandchildren that he adores.  He is a concerned citizen a positive motivating force who is committed to keeping San Pedro and surrounding communities united, safe, and productive.
